This project was for a small lake cottage used on the weekends by the owner. The goal was to open up the space and take advantage of the lake view.

To accomplish this, we changed all of the windows on the lake side of the home to make the most of the view. Transom windows were installed above the fixed picture windows to allow for cross ventilation on summer days. The existing ceiling was raised to open up the living room, and the existing beams were stripped and stained. The kitchen was updated with new hickory cabinets and updated appliances, to provide a county cottage feeling. The kitchen counters are granite and the flooring is wide plank yellow pine.

Existing floors in the rest of the home were refinished. This is a good example of making the most of a small space, along with mixing the best of the existing conditions with new mateerials.
